Getting ready for Camilla, the future Queen!

It is the “sincere wish” of Queen Elizabeth II that Camilla Parker Bowles, the wife of Prince Charles, be called “queen consort” when he becomes king. It was on the eve of Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee, the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

“When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” she added in the statement on February 5.

It was made plain that Camilla would not be utilizing the late Princess Diana’s title, Princess of Wales, when she married Charles in 2005. When Charles succeeds his father as King of England, the palace will issue a statement declaring that Camilla will use the title HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and that she will be elevated to the title HRH The Princess Consort.

Her Majesty’s announcement on Saturday, however, made it obvious that she wants her daughter-in-law to be known as “Queen Camilla.”

No, Camilla will not be the next Queen of England. A queen consort, as defined by The Guardian, is the royal spouse. When a woman holds the same position as a man, she is known as the Queen Regnant, and she now reigns as Queen Elizabeth II.

Since Elizabeth’s accession in 1952 until his death in April 2021, Prince Philip served as the monarch’s consort, making him the all-time record holder.

Queen Elizabeth stated in a statement that she was “fortunate” to have a consort prepared to carry out the job of consort and “unselfishly make the sacrifices that go with it.” As I recall, my mother played this role during the time of my father’s rule.

The Duchess of Cornwall was made a Royal Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in honour of her service to the monarchy by Queen Elizabeth II.

Clarence House, the residence of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, said Charles and Camilla were “moved and honored” by the visit.
