Those who made a resolution to eat healthier in the new year, and those who have kept their resolutions through February, may have an excess of salads on their menu at home if they are successful. Also, while veggies and leafy greens are great sources of nutrition, one widely available, prepackaged salad topper may actually pose a risk to your health. Here, you’ll discover more about a big national brand’s latest salad dressing recall, as well as what to do if you have this food item in your cabinet or fridge right now.
Conagra Brands is recalling some Wish-Bone Thousand Island and Chunky Blue Cheese salad dressings because of possible contamination with other products.
According to a recall notice posted on the FDA’s website, Conagra Brands is voluntarily recalling a small number of Wish-Bone Thousand Island and Chunky Blue Cheese dressings. The recall was announced on January 28th and the notification was published on January 31st, 2022.
The Wish-Bone dressings have been withdrawn from the market due to an unknown allergen.
As a result of the inclusion of egg in the product but not being mentioned on the label, Conagra has decided to recall specific Wish-Bone dressings. People with egg allergies or sensitivities may unknowingly consume these goods, putting their health at risk. Mislabeled dressings put consumers at risk of having a serious or even “life-threatening” allergic reaction. Due to the labeling issue, there have so far been no reports of illness or harm.
A voluntary recall has been issued for four lots of Wish-Bone dressing in two popular varieties.
Conagra is now recalling the following lots of Wish-Bone dressing:
Wish-Bone 15-ounce Thousand Island dressing, with the UPC 0-41321-00645-6, the batch code 4254200620, and a best-by date of Jan. 21, 2023
Wish-Bone 15-ounce Thousand Island dressing, with the UPC 0-41321-00645-6, the batch code 4254200720, and a best-by date of Feb. 12, 2023
Wish-Bone 24-ounce Thousand Island dressing, with the UPC 0-41321-00731-6, the batch code 4254201720, and a best-by date of Feb. 11, 2023
Wish-Bone 24-ounce Chunky Blue Cheese dressing, with the UPC 0-41321-00691-3, the batch code 4254201320, and a best-by date of Nov. 9, 2022
There are no other Conagra or Wish-Bone products affected by this recall, so you can safely eat any other groceries you may have at home.
To ensure that the recalled goods aren’t sold with incorrect labelling, Conagra Brands is working with retail outlets to remove them from store racks. As of this writing, the four recalled salad dressings have been removed from store shelves and are no longer for sale.
For those who have an egg allergy and are afraid that they may have become sick because of the mislabeled dressings, get in touch with your doctor immediately.
