MISHAWAKA – A man was taken to the hospital Monday night after being shot by Mishawaka police at the Village Green Mobile Home Park.

According to a spokeswoman for the South Bend Police Department, which is investigating the shooting, Mishawaka officers were called to the mobile home park on Byrkit Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Monday for a “disturbance.”

The events leading up to the shooting remain unclear as of Tuesday morning.

The South Bend Police Department spokeswoman would not comment on the man’s condition Tuesday morning.

No officers were injured in the incident.

South Bend police are investigating the shooting because of a new interagency agreement following the disbanding of the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit earlier this year.
